Kitchen Remodeling | Are Granite Countertops Going Out of Style?
Kitchen Remodeling | Granite wasn’t widely used until the late 80’s. In the 90’s and 2000’s it became the material of choice for most homeowners. With its abundant presence in many homes from coast-to-coast it is still the most widely chosen countertop material, but this trend is slowly declining.
People love granite for many reasons! It looks great, is extremely durable, and is affordable. Unfortunately granite is becoming so popular, it’s almost not popular. What do I mean by this? It is so mainstream everybody is doing it. That is one reason granite might be falling by the wayside. The other reason is the countertop is becoming less of a focal point for kitchen designers, and granite is extremely hard not to notice.
Today’s kitchen color theme weighs heavily on countertop selection. Contrary to the last two decades, homeowners want their countertop to fade away into their kitchen’s design. This can be accomplished by utilizing more tame designs without sacrificing durability – materials such as quartz, marble, and soapstone.
So what material do you go with when remodeling your kitchen? The million-dollar question is why and whom are you remodeling for? If you plan on moving you would best be advised to go with a neutral option that looks upscale, but doesn’t turn away buyers who are not fans of granite. If you plan on staying put for quite some time, choose what aligns with your personality and tastes. After all, it’s your money! – West Construction
