Kitchen Remodeling | When’s the Best Time for Kitchen Remodeling

Kitchen Remodeling | Kitchen remodeling is a broad term that includes everything from a applying a new coat of paint to completely gutting and replacing all the floors, cabinets and appliances in your kitchen. So the best time to remodel your kitchen depends on the size and scope of your project.

One of the most important things to consider when planning your kitchen remodeling is how long the project will take. If you are doing a complete overhaul, the entire project could take up to six or eight weeks from start to finish.

A smaller project could be completed over a weekend or two. Add to that the time it will take you to plan your kitchen remodeling, which often can be another couple of weeks or months.

Give Yourself Enough Time

So the first thing to think about is when you need your kitchen back. For example, if you are planning on hosting a holiday party, entertaining, or hosting a special event such as a wedding reception or important dinner party in your home, you certainly don’t want your kitchen to be in disarray.

Set a Target Completion Date

One strategy for planning your kitchen remodeling is determining your target date and then working backwards from there.

For example, if you are planning on hosting a New Year’s Eve party in your home and you know that given the scope of your kitchen remodeling the entire project will take at least a month, you want to add on a couple of weeks of cushion and begin your project no later than the second week in November (although that means you probably will have to find an alternate location for Thanksgiving).

Consider the Weather

Depending on where you live, you may want to consider doing your kitchen renovation when the weather outdoors is milder. That’s because replacing windows or even walls can leave your home exposed to the elements. Scheduling your kitchen renovation during extremely hot weather or cold, snowy weather is probably something you want to avoid. – Build and Rehab
